Why
do you want this particular job?
Never mention negative apsects about your current job
or employer! But think about the positive reason why you want
the position (dont just say 'it pays more!') and include things
like 'career progression', 'this is a progressive company',
'future opportunities', 'a dyamic work environment' etc
What qualities could you bring
to this role?
Tell them about your strengths and why you are tailor
made for this position! These may include a good leadership
ability ,good supervisory skills, strong communication skills,
excellent problem solving abilities, analytical skills, interpersonal
skills, great teamworker and so forth.
What can you contribute to this
organisation?
Tell them about your previous achievements at your last
employer and relate these to how you can bring positive change
to your potential new workplace!
Why would you like to work for
this organisation?
Re-enforce the positive reasons why you would like to
join their company, but avoid aspects such as better pay or
less hours. These will not go down well!
What
do you know about our organisation?
Go into detail using your prior research on the company
- quote things like turnover, % growth in turnover over the
last 3 years. Add any other useful information such as hot off
the press company news (eg. a merger) and include in this how
you could benefit this company in furthering their future goals
and growth. You have to sell yourself as a potential asset to
the company without being tacky! Discuss things like number
of employees, employee retention rates (is this due to excellent
training schemes?, great pay? or what?). Premises - Is the company
in a state of the art facility? if so outline how you can add
to this and ADD VALUE to their operations.
Why would we want to employ you?
Bring up your recent achievements and how you can add
value to their operations. For example, "I reduced purchasing
expenditure by over 20% at my current employer within 12 months
and increased productivity by 35% at the same time.....I feel
I could contribute similarly to your organisation meaning that
you would cover my salary immediately purely on expenditure
savings". Also it may be useful to mention how loyal you
are (if you are!) and also the commitment you put into your
roles. Also highlight any relevant qualifications you can bring
to the position that demonstrate your suitability for the job.
How ambitious are you?
Say you are very ambitous but measured at the same time.
'You dont like to run before you can walk' is a good one! But
rre-assure the interviewer that you would be comitted to the
company and would give your all to the role.
Why are you changing careers at
this time?
This question will only be asked if you are making a
radical change in your career. Always emphasise the positive
aspects of this change rather than the negative aspects of your
previous career - you dont want to come across as somebody who
is bitter with their current career and ust 'wants a change'.
Emphasise why you will be good in this new role - using your
experience, achievements, and skill sets as defining reasons
why you fit this role to a T.
How do you regard your current
employer?
Only stress the positives about your current employment.
Even if you loathe turning up every day, it is far smarter to
paint a rosy picture about your current employers than a dark
one. No new employer wants to take on staff who are bitter...and
hacked off with work. It just doesn't bode well for their company
and there will always be someone who is smiling ready to fill
the role.....even if they are not as good as you! Be happy,
even if you have to fake it!
